Background

RUPIA, Paul was born on July 21, 1938 in Shinyanga. Son of the late John Rupia and Lois Rupia.

Career

  • Assistant Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs 1963. Foreign Service Officer, Embassy, Ethiopia 1964-1968. Deputy High Commissioner in United Kingdom 1968-1970.
  • Counsellor, Ministry of Foreign Affairs 1971-1972, Director African and Middle East Division 1972-1974.
  • Alternate Representative of Tanzania to United Nations 1975. Ambassador to Ethiopia 1976-1981.
  • Permanent Representative of Tanzania to United Nations 1981-1984.
  • Principal Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs 1984-1986, Chief Secretary, Office of the President July since 1986. Lecturer, Centre for Foreign Relations, Dar es Salaam August 1979, Zimbabwe Diplomatic Course, Commonwealth Secretary, Salisbury (now Harare) August 1980.
